Bella Vita

Bella Vita is made in collaboration with the family-owned and operated winery Cantine Volpi. Cantine Volpi was founded in 1914 when Cristina Volpi and her two children bought an old tavern in the center of Tortona, Piedmont, and began selling wine by the glass to local customers. Thanks to the strategic geographical position of Tortona, by 1930, their small business had expanded to selling wines by the barrel in the squares of Milan and Genoa. Their business grew for several decades until they finally decided to produce their own wines in 1957. Today, the estate is managed by fourth-generation winemaker Carlo Volpi, and operations have expanded to include two cellars. Volpi has become known as one of the finest producers of organically farmed wines. It was Carlo who desired to make wines as they had been in the past, when the use of chemicals and fertilizers did not exist and producers had more respect for nature and natural processes. In 2000, the family began working with growers farming grapes organically, and in 2001, Volpi produced their first fully organic vintage. Today, the family works closely with four estates in Vento and Abruzzo, all of which are certified organic. Grapes are harvested, crushed, and pressed on-site, and the juice is then transported to Cantine Volpi in Piedmont, where Carlo oversees their vinification, aging, and bottling in his cellars.
